Job Description

This position is for a 6-month project primarily focused on multi-pass and fillet welds on structural beams. The role involves setting up, adjusting, and shutting down welding equipment as necessary, and is responsible for Flux Core and metal core welding. The job requires following weld symbols on drawings and using written or verbal instructions as directed. Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet company and customer specifications, and fill out all required paperwork. Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation. Maintain a clean and safe working environment through general cleanup of the working area. Follow all job-specific work orders and perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-pass and fillet welds on structural beams.
• Set up, adjust, and shut down welding equipment.
• Conduct Flux Core and metal core welding.
• Follow weld symbols on drawings and use instructions as directed.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet specifications.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform general cleanup of the working area.
• Follow job-specific work orders and complete other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 1+ years of FCAW Welding experience.
• Ability to pass and maintain CWB weld certifications.
• Attention to detail with a focus on tasks.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Comfortable wearing a respirator.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, forklift, and other safety training is an asset.
• CJP welding experience.
• Experience in a job shop manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large manufacturing/jobbing shop, with exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually loud, with grinders, hammering, and overhead cranes moving around, so ear protection is provided. Several welding stations are available. The position offers two shifts: Day Shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and Afternoon Shift from 3:00 pm to 1:30 am, Monday to Thursday.

This is a Contract position based out of Langley, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
