Mechanical Engineer, Intermediate

Company Description

Impact Engineering is currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Junior Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) who is self-motivated and has a passion for sustainable design and making a positive impact on the environment. You are a trained E.I.T. or P.Eng. in mechanical building services design with specific knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and energy.

You are a detail-oriented team player with good communication skills and enthusiasm to learn and grow. You will be tasked with leading projects under the supervision of senior engineers.

Role Description

Primary Responsibilities

• Design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, focusing on energy retrofits and high-efficiency new construction
• Manage project implementation and construction administration
• Perform building load calculations using Excel and modeling software such as Carrier HAP
• Prepare energy studies and reports; analyze utility data and conduct engineering analysis
• Manage client communications and represent Impact in project meetings while coordinating projects and maintaining effective relationships with clients, contractors, and subconsultants across multiple concurrent projects.
• Drafting in AutoCAD or Revit

Skills/Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering Degree
• Currently registered as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. with EGBC (or eligible to register)
• Minimum two (2) years of mechanical experience in building consulting
• Familiar with a variety of mechanical equipment and systems
• Familiar with requirements of Codes and Standards (BCBC, VBBL, ASHRAE, CSA)
• Ability to lead engineering projects with confidence and strong communication
• Knowledge of design concepts and fundamentals
• Experience with drafting and modeling software
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Project management experience, including client interaction and coordination of internal teams and subconsultants an asset
• Knowledge of building controls and energy management systems is an asset
• Experience in sales an asset
