Reporting to the Early Learning and Child Care Manager; responsible for supervising a team of Early Childhood Educators and leading the day to day operations of the playrooms.
Plan and implement programming based on the interests and needs of the children in a family grouping model
Understand and implement the Alberta Curriculum Framework
Ensure that Accreditation standards are consistently part of the planning and implementation of the daily programming
Ensure all Licensing requirements are met
Continuously work to build meaningful and supportive relationships with the children and families of the centre
Demonstrate best practice in all areas of interaction with children
Identify and support individual learning and development, diversity, equity and inclusion
Maintain records of the children and documentation of childs development
Lead and support an effective multi-disciplinary team that provides the highest quality of Child Care
Ensure the staff embrace and adhere to the values as outlined on The Spirit of ABC Head Start
Engage in a process of continuous learning and professional development
Take online MacEwan University course; Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum; Play, Participation and Possibilities
Work in partnership with GRIT (Getting Ready for Integration Today)
Enroll and complete MacEwans online course, Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum, Play , Participation and Possibilities. January to April 2018
Must be available to work opening and closing shifts.
Have a minimum of Diploma in Early Childhood Development or equivalency
Sound knowledge of Licensing requirements and Accreditation standards
Clear understanding of the Alberta Curriculum Framework
Able to manage and motivate staff with a strength based approach, providing the necessary coaching and support for them to achieve their personal best

Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
Strong knowledge of child development and family dynamics
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills
Strong professional boundaries
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Have a current; First aid certificate, (with childcare component), Police information check, (with
vulnerable Sector check), and Intervention record check.
Start Date: January 2018. Interview Dates: November and December
Compensation: Pre-Accreditation $23.67/hour. Accreditation $25.87/hour.
