Duties and Responsibilities The primary job duties and responsibilities for the Assistant Director include but are not limited to the following: Child Development and Care Facilitate the development and behaviour of children Uses a variety of observation and documentation techniques Facilitate cognitive, language, social, emotional, creative and physical development of children Facilitate acceptance of diversity Evaluate programs Research a variety of curriculum models Develop, implement, evaluate and monitor a kindergarten, school-age or multi-age program as required Build meaningful relationships with the children Meet health, welfare and safety needs Accommodate for children's allergies Administer medications Provide first aid when required Implement emergency evacuation plans Implement monthly fire drills Actively supervise children at all times, including outings and field trips Administration: assist with record keeping, including banking and main contact for bookkeeper monthly subsidy and grant submission experience with data entry on Timesaver program assist with field trip permission forms and fees Human Resources: Assist with the orientation, development, evaluation and supervision of staff and volunteers. Scheduling all staff, according to program need and staff availability while staying within the payroll budget. Family and Community Relations Maintains and supports links with the community Monitor and reinforce a family-friendly environment Supports a culture of respect for families Provides resources to families Day to day liaison with parents, school, community and staff team Build and maintains meaningful relationships with families Personal and Professional Development Conducts self professionally Maintains professionalism and confidentiality Follows policies and procedures Maintains required professional certificates and registrations Participates in professional development. Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications Diploma in Early Childhood Education, University Degree or Equivalent Must hold a current certification in childcare from the Government of Alberta - Child Development Supervisor or Worker Level 2 or 3 Current First Aid and CPR Certificate Current Criminal Record Check Including Vulnerable Sector Please visit childcareadvantage.com to view full details and to apply.
